On Friday the 14th, we spent most of the day on the ship. We didn't dock until just after 6 pm in Victoria, and were a little late because it was very windy and apparently a ship trying to dock before us was not successful and had to go back out to sea. Kudos to our excellent crew who superbly docked us safely despite the gusty winds! Yes, if you look closely you can see our ship docked at the pier. (This photo was taken from Craigdarroch Castle)
Mom & Dad took the tour bus to Buchart Gardens which are supposed to be absolutely gorgeous! They were very tired though as they hadn't expected to do so much walking.
I took a bus tour of Victoria and we drove around the city, and also stopped at Craigdarroch Castle which was built in the late 1800's for Robert Dunsmuir who made his fortune in coal. Unfortunately, Mr. Dunsmuir died before the castle was entirely finished and his wife lived there as a widow for almost 20 years. The wood was beautiful and carved perfectly. It was definitely a work of art. It is also built on a choice piece of real estate and has a priceless view of the surrounding Victoria area and the harbour.
